From the arranger:  Such a venerable tune, and useful with many texts all through the liturgical year. The change in time signatures allows a different treatment for each verse.  When it’s needed for a service, the moderate number of ringers required makes it more likely that enough people will be available to present it. This hymn is arranged to fill the need for music accommodating ensembles wishing to participate in worship with less than a full handbell choir:

1.    A limited range of bells, on one staff. 
2.    Suitability for locations without the availability of tables:
a.     Limited or no bell changes.
b.    No page turns.
c.     Accessible with music stands.
d.    Techniques that can be performed without tables.
3.    Enlarged measure numbers, more visible from a distance, to allow sharing music.
4.    Notation allowing the melody to be enhanced (110%) while the accompaniment is slightly reduced (90%), encouraging musicality while acknowledging that the melody may be found above, below, or sliding through the accompaniment.
5.    The dynamics for the different voices are distinct, requiring all ringers to know when the melody passes through their assignment, even if only briefly.
